Xeri online at STEKIUS: rules, xeris and points

Play now

Xeri is one of the best-loved card games. You learn it in two minutes, but to win you have to remember which cards have fallen and know when to keep your Jack. And of course, make as many xeris as you can.

At STEKIUS you play Xeri online for free, with two or more players, in teams or each for themselves, with friends or with AI players. Below you will find all the rules: how you capture, when you make a xeri, how the points count and which variants the table can choose.

The deal

Xeri is played with one deck of 52 cards. At the start four cards turn up side by side and then are gathered into one pile where only the top card shows. If a Jack comes up on top, it goes back into the deck and another card turns up. Then each player gets six cards.

With four players the table can play in two teams: partners sit opposite each other, and their cards and points count together.

How you capture

On your turn you play a card on the table: you tap it or drag it onto the pile. If your card is the same as the top card of the pile, you capture the whole pile. A Jack always captures the whole pile, whatever card is on top.

When everyone’s hands are empty, another six cards are dealt, until the deck runs out. Whatever is left on the pile at the end goes to whoever captured last.

The xeri

If the pile has only one card and you capture it with the same card, you make a xeri, which is worth 10 points. If the only card is a Jack and you capture it with a Jack, the xeri is worth 20. A xeri does not count when it is made with the last card of the hand.

The table can also choose two variants: the Jack makes a xeri on any single card, and the xeri counts even with the last card.

The points of the hand

At the end of every hand the cards each player captured are counted:

One hand or a match to points

The table chooses whether one single hand will be played or hands until someone, or a team, reaches the points that were set. One hand is over quickly, while a match to points leaves time for comebacks.

With friends or with bots

You open a table and for every seat you choose whether it will be a person or a bot. For your friends you get a room code and an invitation link, and they join from their own device with their own account. If nobody is online, you open a public table or fill the seats with bots.

The bots have three levels, easy, medium and hard, and play by the same rules as you: they never see your cards or the next card of the deck.

Chips and leaving

The winner wins virtual chips, and in teams both partners do; the rest lose. When you play only with bots, the win pays according to their level. After the first cards, whoever leaves pays a leave penalty. When there is a winner, you leave freely.
